Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all! Although the Upper Ocoee is an Olympic course, you don’t need any previous experience to take it on. We’ll give you all the safety tips and paddling instructions you need before we hit the water, and your guide will be there the whole way to make sure you’re having fun and staying safe.

The Upper Ocoee is a step up in challenge compared to the Middle Ocoee. It features tighter lines, bigger drops, and that thrilling Olympic Whitewater Course section. But don’t worry, it’s not too extreme! As long as you follow your guide’s instructions, it’s a manageable and fun adventure.

If you fall out on the Upper Ocoee, no worries, it’s part of the adventure! Just focus on staying calm and follow your guide’s instructions. They will have you back in the raft in no time!

The best time to raft the Upper Ocoee River is during its scheduled dam releases, typically from late spring to early fall. Summer is especially popular for the warm weather while fall is loved for the vibrant colours. Our trips run every weekend during the rafting season.

We won’t be stopping anywhere for breaks on the Upper Ocoee rafting trip, but don’t worry—there are plenty of calm stretches between the rapids where you can relax and catch your breath during this 3 hour trip.

We’ve got onsite photographers, so you don’t have to worry about capturing your moments. You can check out and buy your photos when you return to the outpost!
