The Ocoee River is controlled by three dams – Ocoee Dam #1 (Lower Ocoee), Dam #2 (Middle Ocoee) operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The TVA controls when and which dams release water that enables whitewater rafting and private boating for the public. Note that the TVA Release Schedules can change without notice due to unanticipated weather changes or power system requirements. See the 2026 Ocoee River release schedules below.
Ocoee #2 indicates the Ocoee Dam #2, which controls river water releases for the popular Middle Ocoee River rafting section. Note: The Middle Ocoee River has releases 5 days a week during June through Labor Day. The river is NOT running on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This means TVA is NOT releasing enough water to go rafting or boating. For spring (March and April) and fall (September and October), the Middle Ocoee runs on the weekends only. The last week in September is always the “Week of Water” and the river runs every day for that week only.
Ocoee 2 is the TVA’s MIDDLE OCOEE release calendar. (Ocoee Dam #2)
Ocoee #3 indicates the Ocoee Dam #3, which controls river water releases for the Olympic Upper Ocoee River rafting section. Note: The Upper Ocoee River has limited releases on weekends only, May through Labor Day. Upper Ocoee rafting trips and Full Combo Upper plus Middle Ocoee Rafting trips are only available on the weekends.
Please plan accordingly.
