How many people are going rafting?
Often when you first make your reservation especially if you’re booking for a large group you may not know how many people you will have. That’s OK. Give us an estimate to hold the date and time you want then adjust the number of rafters as you get firm commitments. If you need to add or drop people from your reservation just call us. We do require a deposit based on the number of people in your group and payment in full 2 weeks before your trip but we’ll work with you to make it easy for you to adjust your numbers. (If you are organizing a big group to go rafting on the Ocoee River, click here for tips and tricks to get your folks to commit to your trip.)
Remember all Ocoee rafters must be at least 12 years old.
What time of the year?
The Ocoee River is a dam controlled river. This means that the water levels are controlled by TVA. You’ll never get to the Ocoee and find it to low to run.

The water for the Ocoee River comes off the top of Blue Ridge Lake. This means most of the year the water is warm compared to other rivers. The exception is in the early spring. Click here for the pros and cons of Ocoee rafting during different times of the year:
What day of the week?
Monday – In general Mondays are the least busy day of the week. Middle Ocoee rafting trips only.
Tuesday – The Ocoee River isn’t scheduled to run. Enjoy mountain biking, zip line canopy tours, hiking, swimming at the Blue Holes, and other great outdoor activities.
Wednesday – The Ocoee River isn’t scheduled to run. Enjoy mountain biking, zip line canopy tours, hiking, swimming at the Blue Holes, and other great outdoor activities.
Thursday – In June and most of Aug Thursdays are relatively open and uncrowded. Thursdays in July can be busy depending on how many big groups are scheduled to raft.
Friday – Fridays are like thursday. Fridays in July are when big groups go rafting to avoid the high Saturday prices. Fridays in June and most of August are excellent choices.
Saturday – Saturdays are far and above the busiest days. They are also the longest rafting days so to avoid the crowds you can book an early or late trip and get the best of all worlds.
Sunday – Sundays are great days if you need to raft on the weekend and you want to avoid the crowds. After Monday Sundays are our least busy days.
Which trip (what time of day)?
You’ll need to call us to see what trip times are available for the day you want to go rafting. We generally have trips going out every hour but we limit most trips to 9 boats (50 – 60 people) so prime trip times book up quickly. If you can go early or late in the day you’ll find it less crowded.
Reservation, Cancelation and Rafting Policies:
We try our best to make our reservation process work in your favor but we do have a few rules. When you reserve your trip we commit guides and equipment to that trip to make sure you’ll have the best possible Ocoee white water rafting trip. We also turn away other customers who may want to raft at the time you chose. In return we ask a few things from you:
